Things We Like No 2: This is what the cover of a folk record should look like. The Heroes in Love e.p. by Shirley Collins is a joy to hear and to behold. And the fact it was recorded by Bill Leader is a bonus, too.

I bought this lp something like 6 months ago and finally got the chance to listen to it today (long story…). It is the 3rd solo album from Jim McCann, which dates from 1979. It has some really good moments.
Is anyone aware of a digital version of it? Like a cd reissue, some mp3s or even a vinyl rip?

Darren Lynch’s set he did last Tuesday at The Grand Folk Club (a folk club that takes place every Tuesdays at The Grand Social, in Dublin). Darren Lynch plays bouzouki and sings on this recording. Quality of the recording is not top notch, but his set was quite good, he plays well and he has some good songs so I hope it transpires (by the way I was at the gig).

I’ll try to write down the set-list when I find time, I can tell you that it begins by Gypsy Davy (Child #200), but then I have to listen properly to the recording to tell you the rest. Oh yes, the third song or so is Spancil Hill (Roud #6847).
